A mega summer book haul and my Summer Reading List for 2026
I always looked forward to summer break as a student and happiness during this time didn’t require much. Long days spent lounging in the sun with a pile of books I waited all year to read was perfection. I’d also have several cans of “mandatory” Hawaii Sun Passion-Orange-Guava nectar in a cooler nearby. Depending on where I was geographically, I’d have local Hawaiian radio playing from the 1980s boombox at my grandparent’s house or listening to island reggae with my portable cd player back in Illinois. My iPods came later.

I became gleefully intoxicated with fantasy and fairytales and I Did. Not. Care.
The feeling of sun-drenched euphoria was a drug I chased every day and I chased it for as long as I could.
I stopped chasing this simple joy long before I even realized I did.
Determined as ever, I plan to recreate those summer vibes in my very own backyard this year.
This summer I’m going back to Pyrinthan and reading A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I’ll delve further into the Maasverse by continuing on to read Throne of Glass and Crescent City series for the very first time. I have a few books on a sideboard to help break up the high stakes of the Maasverse including an essay that is on my “26 in 2026” list, but more on that later.
The music situation remains similar and the Hawaii Sun POG is on a delivery subscription. All that’s left is for Mother Nature to show up with the sun-she’s got the invite.
